Eclipse Glasses Test:
NASA says before you take your eclipse glasses out to the main event, do the following checks to make sure they’re safe to use.
First, find a bright light – like a lamp or flashlight – then hold your eclipse glasses up to the light and look through them. The light should appear extremely dim or not at all.
"You should only be able to see the filament of a light bulb, but not the glow surrounding the bulb,"
If your eclipse glasses have any marks or scratches on them, throw them away.

Parents: The eclipse glasses that students received from school are safe to use. If they have a date of 2015 on them they are good for 10 years. Here are pictures of what it should read.

Parent Survey:
Akin School District #91 asks all parents to participate in the statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the essential elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.
To take the survey, please visit http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. The survey is available on the school website: www.akin91.org. The survey is available in English and Spanish. Only one parent per household may participate in the survey.

Our very own Akin Bulldogs, Caleb Carlton and Candace Carlton made it to Elk's Hoop Shoot District. Candace qualified for the Regionals in Springfield. Good Luck
